Vacancy: Outreach Support Worker (part-time)

Nottingham Irish Centre is seeking to employ a part-time OUTREACH SUPPORT WORKER for a period of 12 months to October 2022.

  • Salary: £9244 per annum.

The Irish Centre provides a number of services, mainly but not exclusively, to the Irish community in the Nottinghamshire area. One of these services is Outreach and Support provided at present by an Outreach Support Worker and we are now looking to expand this service. Our service users have multiple needs such as support with day to day living, dealing with care agencies and related professional bodies, domestic, health and emotional support.
Our aim is to work with individuals to enable them to live independently in their own homes in a safe, secure and comfortable way, to facilitate a smooth transition into care where required, and to provide support to clients and their families during and after illness or bereavement.

About the Role

We are looking for a candidate who can communicate with people in a friendly and welcoming manner, someone who likes to bring a smile to people’s faces and help them lead lives to their fullest capacity. As an outreach and support worker you will visit the homes of elderly, disabled and vulnerable adults to provide a range of services which enable them to live independently. In care and support no two days are the same, but typically the work can include advice and assistance with daily living tasks, assessing needs for a package of care or domestic help where needed, signposting, providing company to combat isolation and general support in life.

We are looking for a resilient, reliable, self-motivated candidate who can demonstrate an awareness of the support needs of vulnerable and elderly people.

Requirements

• Experience of working with vulnerable and elderly people is desirable and an understanding of Irish people and the Irish community would also be an advantage.
• A key part of the role is the ability to communicate empathically and effectively with vulnerable and elderly clients, their family, friends and other health and care professionals.
• As part of your role will be to encourage clients to become active online to alleviate isolation and loneliness, you will need to have a basic understanding of computers and information technology.
• You will need a driving licence, and access to a vehicle, as care is based in the community.
• Employment is subject to proof of eligibility to work in the UK, enhanced DBS checks and satisfactory references.
